The RSLC spent $4.5 million during a successful 2011 that resulted in a net pick up of more than 20 seats and control of two new chambers.
The
RSLC has over 100,000 donors from all 50 states supporting the RSLC’s
goals to pursue a pro-growth agenda, including reforming the tax code,
healthcare and legal systems; promoting a better educational system;
encouraging sound energy initiatives; and advocating public safety
through tough, crime-fighting policies.
What is the mission of the RSLC?
The
Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is the largest caucus of
Republican state leaders in the country and is the only national
organization whose mission is electing Republicans to the office of
Attorney General, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State and
legislator. The RSLC concentrates on recruiting outstanding candidates
and providing them with research, financial support, and assistance in
message development and delivery.
Why is the RSLC important?
The RSLC is
building the farm team for the Party's and America's future. Just eight
years ago, President Barack Obama was a State Senator from
Illinois joining the ranks of half the U.S. Presidents who also had
state legislative experience. At least 28 individuals who successfully
ran for federal office in 2008 served as state legislators. There have
been hundreds of individuals who have held the office of Attorney
General, Lieutenant Governor, legislator and Secretary of State who have
gone on to become Governor, U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator or
President. We want to ensure that we have the right individuals
determining the future of our country and it starts here with the RSLC.
How does the RSLC help candidates?
The RSLC
provides strategic and financial support to state candidates. This
support is often the difference between victory and defeat in some of
the closest state elections in the country.
Who contributes to the RSLC?
Everyone!
Currently, over 100,000 individuals just like you from every state and
some of America's best companies support the RSLC's mission of
recruiting and electing commonsense Republicans to state office.
How does the RSLC determine who to help?
The
RSLC closely monitors all state elections by gathering intelligence,
working with candidates and party organizations, to determine the best
use of RSLC resources to ensure victory for commonsense Republican
candidates for state office.
What states does the RSLC get involved in?
We're
everywhere! The RSLC supports candidates and caucuses in every state
with an election. During the 2009-2010 election cycle there are
elections for thirty-one Attorneys General, twelve independently elected
Lt. Governors, twenty-six Secretaries of State, and eighty-eight
legislative chambers across the country.
How long has the RSLC been around?
The
Republican State Leadership Committee was founded in 2002 in response to
the evolving competitive nature of down ballot state races. Since its
founding, the RSLC has grown to become the strongest and most effective
national Republican organization making a positive difference in
Attorney General, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State and
legislative races.
Is the RSLC part of the RNC?
No. The RSLC is a
separate entity from the Republican National Committee. The RSLC is the
only organization dedicated solely to electing Republicans at the state
level to the offices of Attorney General, Lieutenant Governor,
Secretary of State and legislator. The RSLC is the largest caucus of
Republican state leaders in the country.
Is the RSLC the same thing as my state Republican Party?
No.
The RSLC is a separate entity from your state Republican Party. Where
appropriate the RSLC does provide resources and support for state
Republican Party organizations.
Is the RSLC a 527 organization?
Yes. The RSLC
is registered and files reports with the Internal Revenue Service under
26 U.S.C. 527. Because transparency is important to the RSLC we have
voluntarily decided to file reports of all contributions and
expenditures on a monthly basis. The RSLC is also registered and reports
in many states across the country pursuant to each states specific
campaign finance laws.
Where is the RSLC located?
The RSLC is located in Alexandria, Virginia.
