Mission
The Republican Secretaries of State
Committee (RSSC) is committed to raising money nationally in support of
Republicans in their contests for the office of Secretary of State.
The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) welcomed the RSSC to
it’s group of programs in 2007.
Background
As of early 2011, Republicans
hold 28 of the 47 Secretaries of State offices nationwide. Of those 28
seats, 21 are elected positions. Over the past 4 years, the RSSC has
been a partner in these races across the country:
- In 2007 the RSSC helped with the victories in Mississippi, where Republican's switched party control, and Kentucky, where Secretary Tre Grayson weathered a tough environment to win re-election
- In 2008 the RSSC was involved in the successful re-election of Sam Reed in the State of Washington. Additionally, with legislative wins in the Tennessee Senate Tre Hargett was elected by his peers to serve as Tennessee's Secretary of State.
- In 2009 Republicans won the post of Governor in New Jersey and Virginia thus growing the number of Republican Secretaries of State by 2 to 20.
- In 2010, Republicans won 17 of 26 races for Secretary of State picking up 9 (Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania) growing the number of Republican Secretaries of State to 28.
2011-2012 Election Cycle
The RSSC is
positioned to build off these successes as we prepare for the races
this year in Kentucky (D), Louisiana (R) and Mississippi (R), while
looking forward to important races in Missouri (D), Montana (D), North
Carolina (D), Oregon (D), Washington (R), and West Virginia (D) in
2012. These races will be key to the organization’s continued growth.
Your support of the RSSC is essential in our efforts to elect more
Republicans committed to conservative principles of governance to the
Office of Secretary of State.
